With the recent approval of the expansion of the Wellington Equestrian Village, many of Wellington’s longtime—and prospective—residents remain curious as to what they can expect from this development. Here is what we know so far.
- More luxury homes. According to proposals submitted to the Village Council by Wellington Lifestyle Partners (WLP), the Equestrian Village expansion will see the construction of 49 single-family homes and 47 townhomes in Wellington North, which will replace the current Equestrian Village showgrounds along Pierson Road and South Shore Boulevard.
Wellington South, on the other hand, will bring in 107 luxury villas and five 4-acre farms to 290 undeveloped acres at South Shore and Lake Worth Road.
- Improved equestrian showgrounds. In addition to the luxury residences in Wellington North and Wellington South, the proposed development also includes plans to improve the village’s current equestrian showgrounds by constructing a megacenter. This facility, once completed, will replace the amenities in Equestrian Village as well as consolidate all equine competitions into one venue.
According to Village staff, the facilities for the new showgrounds include the following:
- A derby field measuring a minimum of 350 feet by 450 feet with a schooling area measuring at least 200 feet by 350 feet.
- An international arena with a minimum of 1,000 seats and a schooling area measuring at least 200 feet square.
- Two additional arenas measuring at least 170 feet by 260 feet each, with schooling areas measuring at least 170 feet by 140 feet each.
- Permanent stabling facilities with a minimum of 200 stables.
- A lunging area measuring a minimum of 140 feet by 200 feet.
- Five ringside shade structures measuring at least 15 feet by 30 feet apiece for viewing.
- A dedicated luxury mixed-use space. As noted in the proposal submitted by WLP, the Wellington Equestrian Village expansion will also include developments. These include the construction of Equestrian Village’s very own Main Street. which will serve as home to a luxury boutique hotel, restaurants, shops, office spaces, and a town park.
- More recreational spaces. Part of the Wellington Equestrian Village expansion is the construction of several recreational spaces that cater to non-equine activities. This includes a private country club which is set to come complete with swimming pools, pickleball courts, and a short-range golf facility, all of which can be enjoyed freely by village residents.
