North Palm Beach’s A BRIEF NORTH PALM BEACH HISTORY

In 1954, John D. MacArthur purchased 2.600 acres of northern Palm Beach County land previously owned by Sir Harry Oakes. This purchase included the land that would later be North Palm Beach as well as Lake Park, Palm Beach Gardens and Palm Beach Shores.

After extensive development in the area as well as the completion of the US-1 widening project, North Palm Beach was incorporated in 1956 and like so many other communities in the area, has experienced a stunning boom in well-planned development as well as population making it one of the more desirable locales in south Florida.

Of particular note to nature enthusiasts, Palm Beach County’s only state park, the stunning John D. MacArthur State Park, is moments away.
