The Town of Manalapan
Manalapan Geography and Demographics
In terms of unparalleled natural beauty in an exclusive location, the town of Manalapan is without peer. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean, Boynton Inlet and Lake Worth Lagoon on the Intracoastal Waterway, this stunningly beautiful jewel of a location is one the most highly desired locations on Florida's famed Gold Coast and provides its residents an idyllic and intimate Caribbean-style barrier island experience.
With approximately 410 year-round residents and a relatively small number of spectacular residences, the township commission of Manalapan is strongly and historically committed to the preservation of its founders’ vision of a low-density residential community both surrounded by and complemented by an environment of unspoiled natural beauty. This forward-thinking attitude ensures residents an extraordinary and unique location where one can wile away the hours on secluded and exclusive pearl-white sand beaches while enjoying the gorgeous sunsets and unsurpassed private boating and yachting docks and facilities.
Manalapan is one of an extremely select number of east coast Florida communities where prime real estate is available extending from the Atlantic to the Intracoastal Waterway providing opportunities to savor the sunrise from pristine beaches and cocktail hour on your yacht as the sun sets serenely over the Lake Worth Lagoon horizon.
The History of Manalapan
In 1889, then President Benjamin Harrison granted George H.K. Carter the very first homestead in the area that would be known as Manalapan. It remained a relatively unknown and lightly populated settlement until 1931 when the settlement was incorporated by Harold Stirling Vanderbilt of the famed Vanderbilt family as the "Town of Manalapan". Since that auspicious moment, Manalapan has blossomed into a destination where truly discerning members of society have the opportunity to make a home in incomparable natural surroundings with the very minimum of hustle and bustle that is sometimes characteristic of nearby Palm Beach and Boca Raton.
Manalapan Lifestyle
In the late 1980’s, the Town Commission of Manalapan approved the beautiful five-star Ritz-Carlton Hotel Palm Beach, which was very recently renamed as Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa. During the approval process, the famous La Coquille Club, which served as a hotspot for industry titans such as the Rockefellers, Whitneys, Vanderbilts and Huttons, was razed in order to complete the new construction. This was accomplished with the agreement that there would always be a La Coquille Club presence at the new resort. The new La Coquille Club presently occupies an elegant 2,400 sq. ft. dining room and 600 sq. ft. terrace area and is a favorite haunt of Manalapan residents.
Property owners in Manalapan enjoy the astounding privilege of a gratis membership to the Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa. Once approved by the board of directors, members enjoy access to private club amenities including the La Coquille Club dining area and terrace, private beach, tennis facilities, state-of-the-art fitness and spa facilities, resort-style pool and whirlpools.
In addition, Manalapan residents are ideally situated to take advantage of the myriad dining, shopping, cultural and recreational amenities to be found in nearby Palm Beach and Boca Raton. This unique location makes Manalapan a destination where residents can enjoy the tranquil surroundings of Hypoluxo Island while being minutes away from all the creature comforts that make Palm Beach County a dream locale.
