The residents of the area that was to be known as Delray Beach incorporated the community of Delray in 1923. In 1927 the towns of Delray and Delray Beach were merged into the single community known and loved today. In more modern times, Delray Beach has emerged as one of the hottest destinations in south Florida and has enjoyed a boom in terms of population and highly desirable resort-related development. Now encompassing an area just over sixteen square miles and boasting a population of slightly over 62,000 residents, Delray Beach has twice won the distinguished designation of “All-American City” in recent years.
