Boca Raton’s colorful history began when the surrounding area was first populated by the Calusa Native American Tribe in pre-colonial times. The area experienced its first population boom in the 1900’s when settlers from Georgia and the Carolinas discovering the rich resources and natural beauty of the area, decided to call what would be Boca Raton, home.

The 1920’s saw the official incorporation of the town and the decision of the town council to commission a world-class resort community designed by famed architect, Addison Mizner. This decision would influence the appearance of the town as well as it’s Mediterranean-styled architectural and cultural influences to the current day. Many of Mizner’s original projects can still be appreciated and experienced today.
